Just A Dream

Today you heard the story "Just a Dream" by Chris Van Allsburg with the class. When Walter, a not so environmentally conscious boy travels to the future one night in a dream, he realizes that the future isn't as bright as he hoped it would be. Please respond to the story.

Describe one place Walter visited in his dream (the neighborhood dump, the toothpick tree, the medicine factory, Mt. Everest, the ocean/fishing boats, the freeway, or the Grand Canyon).

What about these places surprised Walter?

Also, what made Walter aware of his environment when he woke up the next morning?

Remember to include your name in your post. If you respond to all of three of these questions and use solid writing skills, then it will be counted as extra credit.

One thing Walter did in his dream was ride in his bed to the top of a smoke stack.

Walter was surprised that what he did as a kid affected the future.

When Walter woke up the next morning, everything was normalbut he thought he needed to take care of this envirnment now.

Walter also when to a ocean or river. Walter noticed how the fisher men had only gotten two fishes that week. The men in the past must have over fished. How much do think the fish costed?
I think (because there were so few) that they would cost at least cost $50. What do you think?
Please respond.

Katherine,

I agree with you that the fish must have been expensive because they were becoming so endangered! Hey, that is a GLAD word! I'm glad you took the time to respond to this extra credit blog.

When Walter visits the medicine factory, his eyes burned because of the smoke. the people who ran the factory were causing nasty symtoms while they were curing them.

The polluted air suprised him because he didn't think he could possibly be the future.

The polluted air made Walter aware that what he did in the present affected the future
